Description: | PRN 34493
A surface scatter of Romano-British pottery, briquetage, shell, animal bone and burnt stone was seen during fieldwalking. The scatter is within the area of a soilmark and it appears to represent a site which was formerly buried and protected but which is now being damaged by ploughing. Plough lines were visible showing a dark possible occupation layer containing large, freshly broken sherds. Dark, peaty ditch lines were also seen in the vicinity of the site. The presence of briquetage implies salt making activity in the area. {1} | Subjects: | General Archaeology Salt Making Site | Temporal: | 43 - 409 | Source: | Lincolnshire County Council | Identifier: | http://www.lincstothepast.com/Records/Re... | Go to resource |
