Description: | Pinchbeck, or Otway Hall, after families so named, was a moated, apparently Tudor, mansion. It was taken down in 1802 and a successor built near the site. {1}{2}{3}{4}
Pinchbeck Hall entirely 19th century. There is no indication of the site of an earlier house, and the moat could not be traced, although the latter is probably incorporated in modern ornamental garden and drainage. {1}
The hall is recorded around the Hall on the first and second edition Ordnance Survey maps. {5}
The present hall dates to the early eighteenth century and was altered 1802. It was extended in 1909. There is a projecting bay with a date stone in the gable inscribed "WSR 1909" after the owner Mr Royce, MP. {6} | Subjects: | General Archaeology Building | Temporal: | 1540 - 1802 | Source: | Lincolnshire County Council | Identifier: | http://www.lincstothepast.com/Records/Re... | Go to resource |
