Description: | Medieval banks and ditches which are the remains of part of the northern boundary of the monastic lands of Crowland Abbey. The earthworks originally comprised three parallel east to west aligned banks set approximately 30 metres to 35 metres apart and flanked by ditches. The middle bank survives under pasture for approximately 395 metres as an earthwork and other ditches survive as buried features. All of the field boundary fences and gates, a water trough, a supply pipe at the west end of the site, modern drainage dykes and the surface of the bridleway are excluded from the scheduling. There is a full description in the scheduling document 20817. {1} | Subjects: | General Archaeology | Temporal: | 1066 - 1539 | Source: | Lincolnshire County Council | Identifier: | http://www.lincstothepast.com/Records/Re... | Go to resource |
