Description: | Red cross badge from First World War, belonging to Catherine Stow. Military bar badge, gold coloured metal with pin at back, front of badge is red, yellow, and white stripe ribbon bar. Was in an evelope with 2815 written on the front. The colours of this bar are those of the Red Cross and appear on other of its medals, including the Voluntary Medical Services Medal ribbon. The full medal has a ribbon in these colours, with a gold circular pendant. This medal is only worn on ceremonial occasions, and on non-ceremonial occasions the bar is worn instead. This would appear to be the bar, but the medal itself is not included with this collection. The medal was instituted in 1932 and awarded to members who have completed 15 years qualifying service in the British Red Cross or the St Andrews Ambulance Corps. | Subjects: | Emergency Services Wartime Organisations Military | Temporal: | 1914 - 1918 | Source: | Lincolnshire County Council | Identifier: | http://www.lincstothepast.com/Records/Re... | Go to resource |
