Description: | Isabella ( Isbal ) Burnes was born 27th June 1771 while the family lived at Mount Oliphant. She was the youngest of the seven children of Agnes Burnes and William Burnes and married John Begg in December 1793. Her husband died in a riding accident in 1813.
Isabella Begg supported her family of 9 children by teaching in East Lothian until 1843 after which she moved to Ayr. She died in 1858 and was buried in her fathers grave in Alloway Churchyard.
