Description: | Robert Burns (1759-96) Scotland's National Poet was born in a small thatched cottage in Alloway, Ayrshire the son of a market gardener who feued 7 acres locally. During a short period he composed a wealth of songs and poems. He died in Dumfries of heart disease at the early age of 37 years.
The watch which is now on display in Burns Cottage Museum, Alloway was presented in 1931 by the descendants of the Poet's brother Gilbert Burns.
