Description: | Medieval strap-end. This incomplete sub-rectangular strap-end was cast in copper alloy. One of the end plates is missing and there is a worn transverse break where it would have been attached to the body of the strap-end. There is one rivet hole at the attachment end, however the rivet is missing. There is no iron corrosion around the rivet hole, suggesting that the missing rivet may have been made from copper alloy. The strap-end is plain, with no design on either side. The surface has some patches of dark green corrosion, while the over all surface of the strap-end has a light green patina. There is evidence of wear and plough damage to the strap-end on all surfaces. It measures 45mm in length, and is 10mm wide.
