Description: | A complete copper-alloy seal matrix of 'chess pawn' type and circa 14th century date. Measuring 18mm in height this matrix has a worn lozenge shaped suspension loop with a circular pierced hole through its centre. The shaft is facted and hexagonal in cross-section, it flares into the circular die which measures c17mm in diameter. This die has a squirrel in its centre and a border inscription.
