First World War portrait medal by Arnold Hartig commemorating General Rohr von Denta (1854-1927), one in a series of
patriotic medallic tributes to senior Austro-Hungarian political and military figures produced by the artist during the war. Rohr von Denta
commanded Austro-Hungarian forces ('Armeegruppe Rohr') defending Carinthia and the Tyrol up until February 1916. He subsequently commanded
10 Army (February - June 1916), 11 Army (June 1916 to February 1917), and 1 Army (February 1917 to April 1918). He was promoted to Field
