Description: | Ms pocket diary of an anonymous private, with details of his training in the United Kingdom with the 53rd (Young Soldiers) Battalion Devonshire Regiment. He crossed to France and was posted to the 1st Battalion Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry on 8 April 1918, and served on the Western Front with them until 29 June when he was wounded and evacuated to Boscombe. After convalescence he proceeded to train for active service, 23 September 1916 - 31 December 1918.
