Description: | Photocopy (20pp) of his Observer's Flying Log Book for April - September 1918 with entries showing that on 19 April 1918 he was transferred to No 211 Squadron RAF (formerly RNAS), 65 Wing, stationed at Petit Snythe near Dunkirk, and flying DH9s and later O/400s. The log contains useful short descriptions of the bombing raids in which Dodwell took part, mostly against targets at Bruges, Zeebrugge and Ostend, of particular interest being an account of the raids on Bruges Docks (22 - 28 June), a forced landing on a beach (10 July) and a prolonged engagement with some German fighters for which Dodwell was awarded the DSO (13 September). On 16 September his left arm was broken by anti-aircraft fire and, after his aircraft had made a successful crash landing in the sea, his arm was amputated in Holland.
