Description: | Emergency passport (1p) issued by the Consulate of the United States in Berlin on 26 August 1914 to Miss Eliza Macintyre, a 64 year old British subject who had been travelling in Germany at the outbreak of the First World War, permitting her to proceed back to England. The passport, which was subsequently backed onto card, has a manuscript note in German written on it in Hanover on 22 September 1914, presumably signed by a German consular official.
