Description: | 3 photocopied ms letters (7pp) written to his mother dated between 22 and 31 December 1917 after having just taken Jerusalem while serving as the commander of the Egyptian Expeditionary Force in Palestine during the First World War; describing in good detail the geography and sights where he is, a rout of the Turks on Christmas Day in which they took over 300 prisoners, the continuing congratulations he is receiving for capturing Jerusalem, and another by the Turks to re-take Jerusalem on 27 December in which the British took between 600 and 700 prisoners, pushing the Turks 10 miles north of the city.
