Description: | Cloth-bound photograph album (spine missing), containing postcard prints showing scenes in the Prisoner-of-war Camp at Handforth, Manchester, during the First World War, collected and compiled by Sergeant-Major William Luffman, Sergeant-Major of the camp from April 1915 to November 1919.
The photographs include: exterior and interior views of the camp, prisoners' barracks, messing facilities, amenities and other buildings; individual prisoners and prisoner groups; their living conditions and bed spaces; their work and leisure pursuits, including theatrical productions and play scenes, choirs and clubs, sports and a funeral.
