Description: | Ts transcripts (28pp) of selected extracts from his diaries relating to his service in the battle cruiser HMS INFLEXIBLE, July 1914 - December 1917, with particular reference to the unsuccessful pursuit of the GOEBEN and the BRESLAU in the Mediterranean (August 1914), the Battle of the Falkland Islands and its aftermath, the mining of HMS INFLEXIBLE on 18 March 1915 during the Dardanelles operations and her subsequent repair, and her service with the 3rd Battle Cruiser Squadron (Grand Fleet) from June 1915, including the Battle of Jutland; together with letters and accounts by other naval officers, among them Lord Chatfield and Rear Admiral H T England, concerning HMS LION's part in the Battle of Dogger Bank, the monitor HMS MERSEY's operations during the final destruction of the KONIGSBERG in East Africa, naval operations during the Gallipoli campaign, HMS WARSPITE's part in the Battle of Jutland and naval activities in the Caspian Sea in early 1919; and a number of official and other records of Acheson's command of the British Rhine Patrol Flotilla of motor launches, December 1918 - January 1921.
