First World War campaign medal awarded to (9163) Corporal William Nash, 1st Battalion, Royal Scots Fusiliers. Corporal Nash was later awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal (DCM) for bravery and promoted to Warrant Officer Class 2. He was 'killed in action' on the Salonika front, on 10 November 1918 while serving with the 8th Battalion, Royal Scots Fusiliers and is buried in Mikra British Cemetery, Kalamaria. His final rank is recorded by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission as 'Company Quartermaster Serjeant' (sic).
