First World War portrait medal by Arnold Hartig commemorating the charitable work of Archduke Charles Stephen, one in a
series of patriotic medallic tributes to senior Austro-Hungarian political and military figures produced by the artist during the war. The
exergue text (on reverse) is translated as 'For wounded soldiers, widows and orphans'. Schulman's April 1916 catalogue (LX, p 119, ref
