Star of a GCMG awarded to Field Marshal Sir Edmund Allenby (1st Viscount Allenby).
Multi-rayed star in gold and silver with, in a central roundel, St Michael, winged and helmeted, holding in his right hand a flaming sword and in his left a chain, trampling upon a prostrate Satan, all in coloured enamel. The roundel is enclosed by a band of dark blue enamel, edged with chased gold, bearing in raised letters of gold the motto: 'AUSPICIUM MELIORIS AEVI'. The whole superimposed on the centre of a Greek cross, enamelled red and edged with gold, which in turn is centred upon the chipped silver and gold star.
