W.V.V.J
illegible
In the middle distance are a number of ships and flutes lying at anchor close inshore. Many galjoots and smalschips are shown taking people off the shore.
This is a pencil and wash drawing attributed to the Younger, with a false signature in brown ink, ?W.V.V.J?. Although thought to be by the Younger, Robinson believes the wash, though lightly handled, might be by the Elder, but the accurate pencil-work in the distance seems too well done for him. It has been approximately dated by the subject and the style.
