Description: | Scale: 1:200. A model of the Encounter Bay (1969) made in wood with metal and plastic fittings, which has been realistically painted. The hull is carved from a solid piece of wood and is painted brick red below the waterline and dark green above. The bulwarks and superstructure are painted white, whilst the foredeck, cargo deck, and aft deck are painted black. The foredeck details include a communications mast, an anchor stowed on the port side, three cargo hatches, and a flagstaff at the bow. There are nine stacks of containers which are all painted grey with the logo (OCL) for the Overseas Container Ltd. on their sides. On the port and starboard bows and superstructure sides 'Encounter Bay' is written. On the stern 'Encounter Bay London' is written. The superstructure is placed aft, which has two short bridge wings, a pair of lifeboats stowed on davits, and a single dark green painted funnel with the logo for Overseas Container Ltd. in white. Aft deck details include two cranes, a swimming pool, and a red ensign flying from the stern. The model is equipped with a five-bladed propeller and a companion ladder rigged to the starboard quarter.
The model is displayed on a pair of turned chrome plated pillar supports which are mounted on a rectangular wooden baseboard, which has a builder's plaque in the right hand corner.
