Description: | This watercolour shows what appears to be a racing gaff cutter healing to starboard on a port tack. The two steam vessels to the right are possibly spectator vessels.
William Lionel Wyllie (1851-1931) was born into an artistic family. He is well-known as a great maritime artist, and the Thames was a popular subject for him. Wyllie spent many years as a young man living on a barge that he converted into a floating art studio and home.
Box Title: W L Wyllie: Yachting (2).
