Description: | Scale: 1:36. A contemporary full hull model of a cargo ketch (circa 1770). The model is decked and rigged with the sails set. The rigging is original but the sails were added about 1960. The model was previously in the Mercury Collection. It is somewhat clumsily built but is a reasonably good representation of a merchant ketch. Its great beam is consistent with the vessel?s role as a cargo carrier. The inward curving ?billet? head is an economic form of figurehead. Measuring 73 feet from stem to sternpost by 27 feet in the beam, this unarmed British merchant vessel displaced approximately 180 tons burden.
