Description: | Scale: 1:48. A full hull model of the East Indiaman Seringapatam (1837) built entirely in wood with metal and organic material fittings and painted and varnished. The hull is built with planks glued and pegged to sawn frames and is varnished or polished wood with a black-painted strake and bulwarks. Fittings include thirteen gunports in a single row on the main deck, figurehead in the form of a turbaned male, a windlass in the bow used for raising and lowering the anchors, hatches, launching poles in the positions of the foremast and mainmast with the house flag of Greens of Blackwall flying from the latter, stern gallery with eight windows, quarter galleries and guard rails either side of the forecastle and poop decks. The model is displayed on a pair of wooden crutches connected by a stretcher with rounded ends. On stern 'Seringapatam London'.
