Description: | Scale: not calculated. A large scale model with set sails and a type of fishing net called a beam trawl. It is very striking with its large clinker hull and lugsails (a four-sided sail set on a yard). The lug rig was developed in the late 17th, or early 18th century particularly for the fishing and coastal trades due to its advantages when working the tides. The model was acquired by one of the Museum?s founding benefactors from the training ship ?Mercury? in 1929.
