Description: | Scale: Unknown. A rigged waterline model of an Upper Yangtze trading junk. The hull has been carved from a single piece of wood with the upper works, decks and fittings pinned and glued on. The two areas under the bow and stern have been painted black to possibly indicate a metal sheathing, possibly copper, to protect the hull against grounding. On deck it has five large circular horizontal beams with painted red ends, between which are removable cargo hatches. There is a single capstan amidships with an iron four pronged grapnel anchor rigged to it. The curved canopies over the accommodation aft are made from woven material which has been stitched to a wooden frame. It is fitted with three masts with fully battened sails made from white and blue sail cloths. Other loose fittings include a pair of large steering oars, a boat hook, painted red flag, broken spar and cabin fittings.
