Description: | Scale: 1:48. A half block shipbuilders plating model representing the Beryl and Turquoise (both 1924), powered general cargo ships. The model is made in bread-and-butter construction, entirely in wood and varnished in its natural state. The hull has been marked with extensive constructional details which include the size and disposition of frames, plates, decks and waterlines and a number of internal features such as ballast and fuel tanks. Under the counter-stern is the rudder and an aperture in the stern frame for a single screw propeller. The model is mounted on a varnished mahogany backboard with a moulded edge to which is fitted a wooden plaque "Steel screw steamers "Beryl" & "Turquoise" Built by Ailsa Shipbuilding Co Ltd. Troon 1924"
