Description: | Scale: Unknown. Full hull model of a ship's boat mounted on radial davits. The model appears to have been carved from a single piece of wood, and has been realistically painted white below the waterline and royal blue above. The interior has been painted white with details such as stretchers, seats, backboard, and floors in varnished natural wood. The model is equipped with a rudder, tiller, and twelve oars and two boat hooks tied together in two bundles.
The model is displayed suspended on a pair of radial davits, which have been made in metal and intricately rigged, the boat being secured, both from the davits themselves using pulley blocks and two straps secured to the baseboard. The davits are also held in position by a chain secured to the front and rear right-hand corners of the baseboard. The model is displayed on a bevelled mahogany baseboard supported of four bun feet, and the model also has a glazed display case cover that can be removed.
The original case contains plans, drawings and three pages of handwritten explanatory text illustrating the disengaging gear.
