Description: | Globus Coelestis / in quo / omnes Asterismi / accurate delineati / cura et impensis / Matthaei Seutteri / Chalcogr. August.
Celestial table globe. Astronomical details on the sphere include a labelled magnitude table above Phoenix, to the left of the title cartouche. The Milky Way and the Magellanic Clouds are labelled, and two star groups are named. The 48 Ptolemaic constellations and four of the non-Ptolemaic constellations are drawn. Eight of the southern constellations are drawn, as well as those of Plancius and two of Hevelius. However, not all the constellations are labelled.
The printed horizon of Seutter was copied by Peter Anich. Seutter's celestial globe was used by an anonymous German maker in circa 1725 as his model (see GLB0163). For full details about the cartography and construction of this globe please refer to the related publication.
