Description: | Scale: Unknown. A model of the midship section of HMS Caledonia (1808) made almost entirely of finished natural wood with metal fittings. The model consists of three complete double frames, all of which are mounted on a section of keel, The frames are constructed as they would be on the actual vessel and are complete with floors, futtocks, top timbers and include two gun ports on either side. There is a small section of hull planking at the turn of the bilge together with four horizontal ribbands secured by brass pins t the frames. Internally it is complete with upper and lower deck beams with a diagonal scarf in the middle, beam shelf cutwater, ceiling planks and a pair of metal hanging knees which support the upper deck beam. Plaque mounted between the two deck beams inscribed "Midship section H.M.S. "Caledonia". Renamed Dreadnought.".
