Description: | The Dutch rear squadron in a quartering breeze, May 1672. The Dutch ships are viewed from the lee quarter with the wind broad on the port quarter. On the left is the ?Amsterdam? with a hooker or galjoot with a square-sail on her lee bow. In the centre middle-distance is Vice-Admiral Isaac Sweer of the ?Olifant?. In the right distance is a rear-admiral, possibly De Haen, Vice-Admiral Schram in the ?Pacificatie?, and Lieutenant-Admiral Van Ghent in the ?Dolfijn?.
It appears to have been drawn when Van de Velde was with the Dutch fleet before the battle of Solebay, May 1672.
Box Title: Ingram. Van de Velde 1672-1675. G 1055-1103.
