Description: | Scale: Unknown. A full hull shipbuilder's model of the short sea cargo vessel 'Stridence' (1983). The hull is finished in a reddish brown antifouling below the waterline, olive green boot topping and a lighter red/brown on the topsides. The deck is green with red/brown hatch coamings and black hatch covers, whilst the deck equipment is finished in black with the remaining superstructure and rails white. The hull is complete with draught marks and plimsoll line with the house flag painted either side on the bridge wings due to there being no funnel. On deck at the stern is a small inflatable lifeboat and two life rafts as well as a companionway lashed to the deck. The bridge superstructure is mounted on a hydraulic pillar so that is can be lowered together with the masts and whip aerials, to allow navigation under the lower bridges on the European rivers and waterways. The whole model is mounted in its original wooden glazed display case and is complete with three plaques providing technical specifications and the name and address of the model maker. At the stern the name is inscribed as well as Rochester, the port of registry.
The Stridence (1983) was built by Cochrane Shipbuilders Ltd at Selby for the London & Rochester Trading Co Ltd (Crescent Line).
