Description: | Scale: Not to scale. A full hull model of the paddle-wheel passenger vessel Belle (1840) made in metal and wood and painted in realistic colours. The model is a working toy with a clockwork motor positioned between the paddle boxes that drives the paddle wheels. The principal deck fittings and the deck itself are removable to access the motor. The hull is pink-brown below the waterline, back above and the fore and aft decks are painted brown to resemble planking. Fittings include guard rails on the fore and aft decks, paddle boxes painted black, red paddle wheels, single tall black-painted funnel and rudder. The model is displayed on a rectangular wooden plinth-like baseboard, painted black, with bevelled edges and integral crutches. On port and starboard bows ?Belle?.
