Description: | Portrait of the yacht ?Kitchen?, viewed from slightly before the starboard beam. The work shows two square decorated ports forward, one amidships, a double-light aft and a small badge on the quarter; with a lion figurehead. Figures are shown on board, with the stumps of a main and mizzen mast and an ensign on a staff depicted aft.
The drawing is one of two cleanly done in wash over very slight pencil work, the other being PAF6652 (a Dutch States yacht). Robinson found them hard to reconcile with the Younger?s work and suggested they may in fact be by a clever copyist. He noted that the light blue wash on PAF6652 was favoured by Charles Gore, but that the work seemed too careful for him.
(PAH1807, PAF6678 and PAF6618 are also studies of the ?Kitchen?: she also appears in PAH4118).
