Description: | 3rd Septm'r 1795. A Copy was given to {To Messrs Randall Brent & Sons for Building the Ajax/ {To Mr John Perry & Sons - "- the Kent.
A copy of the circular stern sent to Plymouth for the Kent 23rd Sept 1817.
Prepared from the Triumph pr Adm'y Order, 10th June 1795 - afterwards Order'd to be lengthened 11 feet by Adm'y Order 1796.
Sketches was sent 13th July 1796 for adding the Chase Port as shown in Red ~ and others the 6th Septm'r following for fitting a Scrowl agreeable to Red tick'd Lines.
The alterations in Green were inserted on the Draughts of the Ajax and Kent for carrying on the Works of the said Ships in Novem'r 1796 ~ in consequence of the Ships being lengthened 11 feet - A sketch was also sent to the above Yards for altering the Quarter Deck and Forecastle Ports as shown in Green Lines 13th July 1797.
Scale: 1:48. Plan showing the body plan with stern frames, sheer lines with scroll figurehead, and longitudinal half-breadth for Ajax (1798) and Kent (1798), both 74-gun Third Rate, two-deckers. The plan illustrates the ships as they were originally designed based on the Triumph (1764), and with the later addition of 11ft per Admiralty Order dated 19 October 1796. An additional piece of paper was inserted into the plan in order to keep the draught to scale. The plan also includes the alteration to the Kent when she underwent a Large Repair at Plymouth Dockyard in 1817-1820 and was rebuilt with a circular stern.
