Description: | Scale: not calculated. Fully rigged with set sails, the model depicts the cargo vessel ?Lady of Shalott? (1897), a once common sight in the coastal waters of the south-west of England. It is an old model and has developed a patina that no modelmaker can replicate. The sails, simply made, are now a time-worn dark canvas colour and texture. The replacement hatch covers are removable and reveal what a fine job its modeller has made of the plank on frame hull, which is also evident by the sheer lightness of its construction. ?Lady of Shalott?s? home port was Padstow, Cornwall.
CA: BBC.
Both the name and certain features of the hull are fictitious, according to a letter from the model maker, Francis T. Wayne.
