Description: | An English ship saluting. A near view of a two-decker from before the port beam in a light breeze under fore course, topsails, topgallants and spritsail topsail. A boat with two spritsails under her quarter, a pendant at the masthead.
It is inscribed ?no 4? and in the bottom right corner ?de vergulde son? (the golden sun), referring probably to the sun, since there was no man-of-war called the ?Golden Sun? in the Navy.
This drawing (like PAG6246) possibly belongs to the series made during the King?s visit to the ?Tiger? in August 1681.
Box Title: Ingram. Van de Velde 1677-1684. G 1199-1224.
