Scale: 1:192. Half block model of HMS Royal Sovereign (1891), a 1st class battleship made entirely from wood. The hull is painted a pink-red with the upperworks and bulwarks painted black, both of which are divided by a thin white line along the waterline. The lower hull is fitted with a rudder and a prop shaft at the stern, whilst the bow is fitted with a ram. The upper portion of the hull is complete with a number of circular portholes, four apertures amidships, a pair of hawsepipes at the bow painted red internally and a pair of small guns mounted on semi-circular platforms amidships. The main deck together with the bridge decks are finished in natural wood and varnished with the individual planks scored and marked in black ink. There is a single circular funnel which is painted a light yellow-brown (one of a pair mounted athwartships) which is mounted on a rectangular block of superstructure painted white. The forward and aft bridge decks are connected by a single raised walkway together with a pair of stump masts fitted with circular tops and painted a pink-red. Other fittings include various square and rectangular blocks of superstructure, deck hatches and skylights and two circular bridge and charthouses, all of which are painted white. The whole model is mounted on a wooden backboard which has been overlayed with either paper or card, painted a yellow-brown colour surrounded by a moulded edge painted black.
