Description: | Quarter-repeating pocket watch in a gold / silver-gilt pair case. It has a full-plate capped fusee movement, signed and numbered, with a cylinder escapement and plain balance. The watch has a white enamel dial with Roman numerals and pierced hands; however, half of the minute hand is missing. There is a quarter-repeating train with two hammers striking the bell inside the inner gold pierced and engraved case. The outer case is a later silver-gilt, with no push catch ever having been fitted.
Inscription. AQN: Foulkes, R K (owner). London assay marks for 1727 and 'WS' on inner case under bell. Quarter-repeating pocket watch. Full-plate movement, capped. Cylinder escapement, steel balance, diamond endstone to cock. Quarter-repeating train with two hammers. Convex enamel dial and pierced gol hands (all later - early 19C). Outer case silver-gilt (later); not marked, never had catch. Gold inner case pierced and engraved, containing bell.
