Liquid compass
Bowl: Brass, grey painted, contained in outer protective casing,diameter 4.6" (11.6cm), containing ant-vibration system and securing lugs. Inside of bowl painted white. Fitted with an Alexander Godsave domed glass to magnify card and enable it to be read near eye level. A black wire lubber line extends from under verge ring to botom of bowl. A sun shade is fitted to fore side of bowl, secured to verge ring and projects 1.15" (2.8cm) above bowl.
Card: White painted mica with black markings graduated 1-36 (360 degs) attached by wire spider of eight elements, N-S element red, rest black. No float is provided but centre has a raised frame in which pivot spike is fitted.
Needle: Four needle magnets slung beneath the spider.
Pivot: Brass(?) stem with pivot cap at top, secured to bridge mounted across base of bowl.
O.A. height 4" (1.2cm)
