Description: | Stirrup hilted fighting sword, the hilt of the sword consists of a gilt stirrup guard. The sword has a rounded pommel and back-piece, with a flute round the pommel and down the back-piece. A foul anchor motif is engraved on the langets. The black fish-skin grip is bound with three gilt wires. The straight, flat-backed steel blade has a double-edged point. The blade is engraved with the Royal cypher 'GR' with a crown above, the Royal arms and floral bunches. Masters of the Fleet, Masters and Warrant Officers wore this type of pattern sword.
