Description: | To the right, a port bow view of a large ship lying becalmed with topsails loosed; a pendant at the main; her mizzen topmasthead is hidden by the main topsail. There is a gaff-rigged dogger and several boats under her stern. Another dogger and a boat are over to the left. Many ships are shown in the background.
This is an unsigned pencil and wash drawing by the Elder. It is inscribed (possibly by the Younger) with an ?L? (light) in the sail of the dogger shown incorrectly in the shadow of the ship.
