This achromatic telescope has a leather-covered barrel and four brass draw tubes. The smallest draw tube has three lines on it, indicating the positions for magnifying powers of 30, 35 and 40. The other brass fittings include a sliding eyepiece cover, a sliding sunshade and an objective lens cap.
The maker's name is inscribed on the third draw tube as 'EDWD. G. WOOD / 74, Cheapside, / London'. In addition, roman numerals are roughly inscribed on a number of hidden parts, presumably as part of the manufacturing and assembly process.
