Description: | Scale: 1:6. Model of an Indo-Chinese sampan. The model has been made entirely in wood and stained a dark brown colour. The hull is carvel planked from the keel but does not have a stern post so the keel continues to the bow as a stem post. There are three wide planks each side of the model, as well as a gunwale. There are six bulk-heads with a main hatch amidships, and a fenestrated lifting rudder. There is a single enclosed cabin amidships with a rounded, removable roof and two entry ports fore and aft. There are numerous oar and 'yuloh' points on the gunwale, and the model is equipped with six composite oars, and a single fluke wooden anchor.
TRIM Reference GEN/36385. Look at ARC files - did this come from the RNM via the Science Museum. Looking for 15761 Model of a Chinese Sampan as stated in NMM8/2377.
