Description: | Scale: 1:96. To ensure rapid replacement of the losses caused by German submarines in the First World War, a large number of merchantmen were built on a few standard designs. These workhorses of the world?s oceans were given names ranging from ?War Acacia? to ?War Zinnia? (all active 1917). The model represents the ?D?-type designed by S. P. Austin & Sons of Sunderland. It shows the defensive armament of a single 4.7 inch gun and the paravanes for protection against mines. It is of exceptional quality; the fittings, in particular, have been beautifully made.
