Description: | Scale: 1:64. A contemporary full hull builder's model of the Nonsuch (1906), a turret-deck general cargo ship. The model is decked and equipped. ?Nonsuch? is inscribed on the port and starboard bows together with ?Nonsuch London? on the stern. The gold- and silver-plated fittings were used on such builder?s models to catch the eye when displayed in various boardrooms and international trade fairs.
CA: AAA.
Turret-decked steamers were introduced by the shipbuilders Doxford & Sons in 1891. The Suez Canal charges were related to the width of the upper deck and so the narrower upper deck qualified the vessel for lower dues. The ?Nonsuch? was built for Messrs Bowles Brothers in 1906 and, after a relatively uneventful career, was reported sunk by German air attack in Hamburg harbour in 1944.
SLR0083.1, a part number for the rudder was deleted when the rudder was re-attached in 2011.
