Description: | Portrait of a Dutch frigate, viewed from the port quarter. The fore topsail and spritsail loosed other sails are clewed or furled. A pendant is at the mizzen. On the tafferel are four round-topped panels (left blank). On the rail above are probably the arms of Amsterdam supported by dolphins. Two shields are on the counter, the one on the port side bearing the arms of Amsterdam
The hull is an offset not rubbed on the back. The masts and sails are rubbed on the back and are a weak offset worked up with pencil. The back is heavily rubbed and the masts and sails may have had an offset taken from them. The main topmasthead has been lowered by corrections in pen and brown ink.
