Description: | The Dutch fleet coming to anchor, 26 May [OS]/ 5 June 1672. In the middle distance is a port bow view of the ?Eendracht?, Aert van Nes at anchor; her mizzen topsail is hoisted and aback. In the left foreground is a lee quarter view of a galjoot with the wind on the port quarter, and beyond her, also with the wind on the port quarter, a ship of the centre squadron, probably the ?Provincie van Utrecht?. On the right is a port bow view of a galjoot in the wind; the direction of the wind is indicated with a ?W?.
Dotted lines in pen and brown ink by the two galjoots indicate the correct waterlines to make the galjoots appear the right size relative to the ships.
It appears to have been drawn when Van de Velde was with the Dutch fleet before the battle of Solebay, May 1672.
Box Title: Ingram. Van de Velde 1672-1675. G 1055-1103.
