Description: | This is a ship portrait, viewed from the port bow and showing bowsprit and sprit-top. There is a figurehead of a crowned lion and an elaborate frieze above the line of the upper deck ports with three oval portraits forward.
Although not rubbed on the back, this work has the appearance of being an offset. It is worked up with detail and wash on the head of the ship, but the wash along the sides is quite untidily applied and the drawing of the guns has been left unfinished.
Box Title: Van de Velde 1-67.
