Submarine liquid compass
Bowl: Brass painted black. Opaque glass bowl at bottom. Glazed at top. Glass disc at centre of glass holds brass mount to take shadow pin. White on inside with black lubber spike. Fill hole and two expansion chambers on side of bowl. Set in gimbals. It is a miniature of the Torpedo boat compass of the period.
Card: White with black markings graduated to quarter points and quadrantally in degrees. Float at centre. Diameter 3" (7.8 cm)
Needle: Unsighted.
Pivot: Unsighted.
Binnacle: Brass and wood. Holes in side for athwartship compensating rods and brackets for compensating balls. Sliding door apereture for access to illuminating electric lamp and centre compensating rods. Three bolt holes on base.
Hood: Brass with carrying handle and two hinged brass flaps for two glazed windows.
Azimuth circle: Brass painted black, sight has movable prism, magnifying glass with lubber spike and two filters.
