Description: | Allied Victory Medal 1914 - 1919 awarded to Private James Woodards of the Army Service Corps (ASC). Mr Woodards, a LGOC bus driver in civilian life, drove a lorry in France with the 319th Motor Transport Company. The medal was granted to all those who served in a theatre of war between 5 August 1914 and 11 November 1918. The design on the obverse represents a winged Victory holding a wreath in her right hand. The ribbon is watered, ie the colours appear to blend into each other. Medals of similar design were issued by many other Allied countries.
